On November 17, 2015 the first round table discussion within the Women's Entrepreneurship Week in Armenia was held. The week had been organized by AYWA (Armenian Young Women's Association) and WENA (Women Entrepreneurs Network in Armenia), and the week was the follow-up of International Conference on Women Entrepreneurship which has been held from 8 to 11 of June, 2015, in Yerevan, Armenia.
The topic of the discussion was “State and International Organizations Support to Women Entrepreneurship Development in the Republic of Armenia”.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and Week in Armenia aim to promote women's entrepreneurship development and empowerment in Armenia through increasing awareness on WED movement and entrepreneurial activities around the world, through establishing new partnership among women entrepreneurs in Armenia.
WED Armenia Ambassador, AYWA, WENA and FCEM-Armenia president Mrs. Lilit Asatryan made the opening speech.
Welcoming speeches were made by Mr. David Dole, Resident Representative of Asian Development Bank in Armenia, Mr. Karen Gevorgyan, Deputy Executive Director of SME DNC of the Republic of Armenia, Mrs. Anahit Simonyan, Head of UNIDO Operations in Armenia, Mrs. Zara Ohanyan, EBRD Small Business Support Project specialist.
The panelists presented their organizations' activities, projects on women's entrepreneurship development, prospective of development and problems in the sphere. During the discussion women entrepreneurs had an opportunity to ask questions and get exhausting and steering answers.
Within the Women's Entrepreneurship Week in Armenia AYWA will organize various events: training, discussions, experience sharing visits, EXPO, «My successful business» photo contest.
On November 19, 2015, within the Women’s Entrepreneurship Week in Armenia Women’s Entrepreneurship Global Day (WED) will be celebrated. Women's Entrepreneurship Day (womenseday.org) is a global movement, which brings together around 150 countries. The movement aims to empower, support and celebrate women entrepreneurs worldwide.
Since 2015 AYWA and WENA president Lilit Asatryan has been elected as WED-Armenia ambassador and AYWA is the organizer of WED in Armenia.
The round-table discussion was organized within the AYWA's“Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia” project, which is funded by the European Union.
