Armenian Young Women’s Association (AYWA) has been implementing “Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia” Project in Lori region since May 2013. The project is funded by the European Union.

The goal of the project is to promote the development of social and economic capacities of women in Lori region for the improvement of the social and economic situation of women.

The project partners are:
CISP, Italian NGO,
Lori Regional Administration,
Vanadzor Municipality.

The project duration is three years from May 2013 to April 2016.

The main components of “Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia” Project:
  1. Assessment of women’s socio-economic needs and research of opportunities for the economic development in the communities of Lori region,
  2. Designing of Local Economic Development (LED) models through participatory method for 5 cluster communities, based on competitive advantages, available resources and potential of the communities,
  3. The development of women’s entrepreneurship skills and support to favorable environment formation for women’s economic activities.

The main activities of the project:
  • Assessment of women’s socio-economic needs and research of obstacles and opportunities for the economic development in the communities of Lori region
  • Designing of Local economic Development (LED) models for five cluster communities (Akhtala, Alaverdi, Tumanyan, Vanadzor, Spitak)
  • Organization of round table discussions, seminars and workshops with the participation of women entrepreneurs, local and regional authorities, industrial and financial companies and media representatives.
  • Organization of entrepreneurship training for the women in 16 community clusters of Lori region,
  • Training on women’s economic development opportunities for media representatives
  • Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs’ Network in Armenia and development of Women Entrepreneurs’ Regional Platform.
  • Review and dissemination of best practices through organization of forums, study tours, charity fairs and other events.
