Grants award ceremony was organized in the framework of the Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project which is implemented by the Armenian Young Women’s Association (AYWA) and funded by the European Union.
President of AYWA Lilit Asatryan presented the Project and the aim of event. “On the one hand, these grants that were awarded to the beneficiaries will ensure women's economic sustainability, and as an outcome of the Local Economic Development project will promote the socio-economic development of the community. On the other hand, they enhance the development of women's capacity”-, said Lilit Asatryan.
8 beneficiary women, who successfully completed entrepreneur’s trainings within Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project and presented best business plans were awarded for implementation following entrepreneurial project that will promote the development of communities:
- Aspram Amirjanyan (v. Shnogh), “Аviculture”
- Ovsanna Lorsabyan (v. Chochkan), “Dried fruits production”
- Varduhi Delikyan (v. Teghut), “Honeycombs production”
- Armenuhi Mamyan (c. Akhtala), “Confectionery”
- Armenuhi Aghababyan (c. Akhtala), “Processing of agricultural products”
- Gayane Paranyan, Gohar Harutyunyan, Hermine Meliksetyan (c. Akhtala), "Puppet Theater social enterprise"
Average sum of award is 520 000 AMD (1000 EURO). The participants of the event were Artur Nalbandyan, Governor of Lori regional government, Jose-Maria Medina-Navarro, Deputy Head of Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project beneficiaries, so as local authorities, private sector and civil society representatives.
In his opening remarks Jose-Maria Medina-Navarro, Deputy Head of Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Armenia, thanked AYWA for presenting and implementing well-developed project. Artur Nalbandyan, Governor of Lori region, welcomed the Project and noted the importance of it for Lori region communities’ socio-economic development.
Armenian Young Women’s Association (AYWA) has been implementing Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project in Lori Region since May 2013. The project duration is three years from May 2013 to May 2016.
The goal of the Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia Project is to promote the development of women’s social and economic capacities in Lori region and the improvement of women’s social and economic situation. The project partners are CISP organization, Lori Marzpetaran and Vanadzor municipality. The project is funded by the European Union.
