ABOUT PROJECT
In the modern world a museum is not just a collection of values, storehouse of antiquities or archive of documents. It is, first of all, a territory for cultural and educational activities. In many countries of Europe and in the USA museums tend to turn into the centers of non-formal education for different community groups – from children and youth to the Internet users and people with disabilities. The concept of “museum pedagogy” has arisen and is being developed.
In order to involve new audience, to “fill historical and cultural heritage with life” and to make it attractive museums cooperate not only with educational institutions, but also with NGOs, cultural centers, galleries, creative groups, curators and independent authors.
PROJECT PURPOSE:
- Support and dissemination of best innovative cultural and creative practices on the basis of traditional cultural heritage – museums of study of local lore, history, archeology, ethnography, art, etc. of all levels (regional, oblast, national).
- Involvement of non-governmental organizations, creative unions, formal and non-formal creative groups, independent authors and curators in cooperation with museums with the purpose of filling them with a new life, engaging new audience, becoming more open and attractive to the general public.
- Development of system of non-formal intercultural education for youth.
- Extension of intercultural dialogue within the Eastern Partnership region.
The project is implemented by Kherson Center of Youth Initiatives "Totem" (Ukraine) within the Eastern Partnership Culture Programme in partnership with the Charity Fund “CCC Creative Center”, (Ukraine), Association DRONI (Georgia), Armenian Association of Young Women "AYWA".
