On the 30th of July 2009 Armenian Young Women`s Association with its almost 20 volunteers participated in one of the programs of Fuller Center for Housing Armenia, in the building work of the Martirosyan’s family. This project took place in the region Haytagh of Armavir province. World box champion Susi Kentikian also took part in AYWA`s initiative and did her best to lend a helping hand to one of the homeless families in her Motherland.
It is not the first time that AYWA encourages homeless families with its volunteering contribution and also sets an example for others.
Members, volunteers of AYWA and friends were among the builder volunteers.
"We are strong as the “soft” ladies of Armenian Young Women’s Association volunteer with us doing their best for the good of our families from program to program. We are getting much stronger when a famous sportswoman such as Susi Kentikian also stands with us and works for a family in need. We are strong and surely appreciate their prospering the Motherland. Their strength in housing homeless children is invaluable. I am sure that we will win the fight against homelessness with them” ,says Ashot Yeghiazaryan, the president of Fuller Center for Housing Armenia.
The Martirosyans` family had been granted the opportunity to build the house several years ago receiving a plot, but to start the building work and to finish it with the salary of a locksmith is almost impossible. Father of the family was only able to build the walls and did not know yet how many years they would need to make the wish of owing a house come true.
"When we learnt that Fuller Center for Housing Armenia chose our family for housing and that our house would be built soon, we were very happy, and when such people started lending a helping hand during our building work we were as if revitalized. We thank you all...", Sargis says.

Our country is developing towards establishment of civil society and democracy. It is a challenging goal, and in these arduous conditions the role of women in Armenia as well as anywhere is crucial...
