Female Food Hero winners are known

Female Food Hero Award was held in “Congress” hotel. The award was organized by the Armenian Young Women’s Association and OXFAM in cooperation with NGOs association of Shirak region, “Fund Against Violation of Law” and “Work and Homeland” NGOs of Vayots Dzor.
The purpose of “Female Food Hero” project is to encourage active and successful women entrepreneurs in agricultural and farm sectors in Armenia, who succeeded to implement positive changes in their activity and to contribute to local community/communities' sustainable development.
“Female Food Hero” award was given to

• Vera Grigoryan-Aragatcotn region, Oshakan
• Satenik Ghazaryan-Kotayq region, Aramus
• Haykanush Enoqyan-Armavir region, Aknashen
• Armine Asulyan-Lori region, Lori Berd
• Armenuhi Stepanyan-Syuniq region, Darbas
• Alvard Shahnazaryan-Gegharkuniq region, Ttujur
• Emma Hakobyan-Tavush region, Gandzaqar
• Aida Avetisyan-Shirak region, Amasia
• Naira Mnacakanyan-Vayots Dzor region, Hermon
• Gayane Petrosyan-Tavush region, Aknaghbyur.

“Female Food Hero” encouraging certificates were given to 6 participants Shaghik Mkhitaryan (Tavush region, Aknaghbyur), Javahir Dalaqyan (Lori region, Shamlugh), Aghunik Hazryan (Shirak region, Aregnadem), Rima Simonyan (Ararat region, Arevshat), Susanna Movsisyan (Ararat region, Shahumyan), Narine Mkrtchyan (Vayots Dzor region, Areni) as well as women’s committee “Lusaber” (Ararat region, Nizami).
The contest was unique summary of implemented and current agricultural projects in Armenia. Among the female heroes are beneficiaries of "Millennium Challenge Fund -Armenia Project”, OXFAM’s “Sustainable Livelihoods” project and “World Vision Armenia”.
Award was accompanied by a booklet and a video presenting heroic women success stories in agriculture.
Honorary guests of the event were US ambassador to Armenia John Heffern and his wife, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Robert Makaryan, Head of Territorial Administration and Development Department of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration Hayk Galstyan, Head of Tourism Development Department of the RA Ministry of Economy Mekhak Apresyan, representatives of NGOs and mass media as well as other present visitors who had an opportunity not only to participate in the event, but also to taste agricultural products of hard working female heroes.
